Poem Train and Cafe Poetica Benefactors
The following literary lovers of poetry have either donated money or requested that their
prize awards be rolled back over into future Poem Train contests. We gratefully appreciate their generosity
and support of Poem Train. Since we are a not-for-profit site, we roll any surplus funds over into the contests
--- and to the winners.
Sarah Key Fast Track Winner
Sarah won our contest and found out at the same time that her poetry was accepted for publication elsewhere.
As such, she donated her winnings to sponsor a series of free poetry contests on Poem Train.
Every quarter, until we have awarded all of the prize money, there will be a free contest which promotes
personal growth in writing. Sarah will be credited as the patron sponsor of the contest.
To launch the Sarah Key Contest Series, we began with a sonnet contest on October 1, 2003. From the entries received,
we narrowed it down to five finalists that were forwarded to Thomas Vaughan, our superior judge. Thomas graciously wrote each poet an analysis of their sonnets
and selected our winner.
The finalists, and the winning poem may be viewed at: Sonnet Contest Winners
The Spring 2004 contest is underway. Full details are available in the Cafe Poetica forums.
| Liz (poetprncess) Liz also requested that her winnings be donated into the contest kitty and for future contests. We will have a free contest to honor Liz for her generosity too as soon as they Sarah Key series ends. Liz is a long-standing member of Poem Train who is dedicated to the peer-to-peer mentoring program. Note: Poem Train is a not-for-profit organization. Membership in Poem Train is free. |
